Well...I dont really think that it is the best ever but I like what it turned out to be. I punched text circles from Shakespeare, the flowers are die cut from canvas and the butterflies are a Martha punch. I used India Ink to journal and outline. Now that the stress of the first page is over I can move on.
Life's not the breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away.

My New Art Journal
If you dont know, Donna Downey is my hero. I simply love everything she creates. I wanted one of her art journals from her store but they are hard to catch in stock so when I saw that the instructions to make your own were for sale in her store I clicked "buy". I have some sewing ability so I figured I could muddle through to make one of my own and bonus...I get to chose the material. After visiting Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Hancocks I finally gathered all the supplies to begin working on my journal. The instructions and video were great and it was pretty simple to put together. I think it turned out great and I cant wait to start creating, though I am having difficulty trying to decide what to put on the first page. For some reason it seems that it should be something really good. I guess it will be what it will be!

Watercolor chaos. I love this journal page because of all the colors. I used simple watercolors, pencil and a thin line sharpie.
Thanks for looking!

I love making these satin poppies. I heated these with my heat gun instead of using a flame and it caused the edges to curl more. I like the result!

Art Journal Page 4
Well it has been a gloomy, rainy day here and the art for this page reflects that. I did the background in red with some black Donna Downey "drippage". I tore the "dreary" from my thesaurus (shame, shame) and the poetry is by Robert Frost. I used some of my new Glimmer Mists going for a wet look, they are raindrops after all. I regret the numbers but after you glue them down you just gotta go with it. TTFN!

Art Journal Page 3
So Michael's had a coupon for 40% off paints and I decided to try some gloss gel medium. I do like the shine it gives the plain ole cheapo paints. I started by mixing the gel with some blue for the background then i mixed the gel with some glass beads and used a palette knife to spread it onto the page. Then I started with the purple and it made me think of those purple clumps of flowers that bloom in spring and that is how glass beads became flowers. I added the green for the foliage and used some black to accent. The bright colors made me think of the saying "dream in COLOR!" I used an edge punch to make the date tag and that brings me to the end of page 3 in my art journal. I have to say that I am beginning to like the journal. It makes me happy to look back at the previous pages. TTFN!

From This to That
Today while I was at Wal-Mart I went over to check out the Valentine clearance isle. I found some pretty red paper bags for my new addiction to making paper bag albums and I found these great metal lockers (I got 2 at half price). I know they have Strawberry Shortcake on them but I can fix that!
So I used my new Miraposa stack to embellish along with a metal butterfly, stickles, pearls and bling, prima flowers, iamroses.com flowers and gold ink. (Did I mention black spray paint, LOL) Her is the finished project:

Valentine Project For My Daughter
Tomorrow is of course Valentine's Day and my daughter had to have a box for her Valentine's so this is what we came up with from supplies in my stash! First we covered the box with 2 layers of tissue. We used K&Co. Ka-Zoo paper pad papers and embellishments to decorate along with lots of glitter and a feather boa. On the handle we tied some tulle and added a paper flower.
Thanks for looking! Happy Valentine's Day!!!

KEYS
Michi got some great new dies for her Accucut at the scrapbook store and this scallop circle is one of them. I decided to use some pictures that I took of my girls last spring so I chose some patterened paper and colored cardstock to match the flowered tank tops they were wearing. (I'm behind on printing my pics so I dont have them printed out yet, shame on me!) I also got these great chipboard keys by Bazzill and that is how I decided on the title. The flowers are Prima, the leaves are from iamroses.com and the title is done with Thickers. I used my Ranger paint dabber in espresso to distress the edges and cover the raw chipboard edge. The cover is all I have done since I dont have the pictures printed. I will post the rest later! Until then thanks for visiting. HAPPY SCRAPPING!
