December Daily Album

Happy Wednesday!  I am excited to post about a new project I am working on.  It is a December Daily Album documenting the 25 days up until Christmas.  The idea is Ali Edwards' and you can read about it on her blog here.  I think that this will be a wonderful project that I will cherish years from now.  Now on to the pages I have done so far.

The Cover:
It is the tabbed acrylic pages from Zutter.  On the acrylic I tied a bow with some ribbon I had lying around.  I painted the bare chipboard numbers with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint and because it tends to chip off I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder to help it stick and give it some shine.  On the tab I added a little bling.  On the cream cardstock under the cover I stamped the circle with acrylic paint then printed "days of" on the same color cardstock and cut it out and inked the edges.  I stamped "Christmas" with some Studio "G" mini alpha stamps on the same color cardstock and inked the edges of that also.

I havent done page one yet but I am thinking about a red envelope with a christmas card inside.  Not sure...anyways...

Page 2:
I used a transparency frame with a AC Thicker number.

Page 3:
I used an envelope that I learned how to do from Marion at http://www.apieceofcraft.com/ I embossed the tag with snowflakes using bridal embossing powder.

Page 4:
This is a random chipboard tab from my stash.

Page 5:
I used some Making Memories paper with a rub-on number.

Page 6:
This is a page from a $1 scalloped chipboard album.  I cut one side straight and covered in patterned papers.  The back side I stamped brackets with acrylic paint around a scrap of lined paper.

Page 7:
I found these Christmas recipe cards at Micheal's.  This will be a great page for making cookies!  I glued two different ones back to back.

Page 8:
This is a peice of transparency and I glued a patterned paper tree to it.  The number is a felt Thicker.

Well, that is all I have so far.  Its fun to hunt for different things to make the pages out of.  I can see now though that I need bigger rings to bind it with.  Happy Scrapping!

Long Time No Post

Hey out there in .com land.  It's been a while since I have posted to my blog.  Cheerleading has been consuming most all of my time lately but I have worked on a few projects and have several projects in the works right now.  I was home today with a sick daughter and had some time to watch a few Youtube videos by Angie Juda, aka "chicknscratch".  Love her work.  One video tutorial I loved is her post-it note organizer.  You can see the video here .  Angie's project used post-it notes but I changed it up a little to make it fit a note pad I got from the dollar bins at Target.  Here is my finished project:

I also loved the idea of the Christmas Wish List.  You can see her video here . Here is my finished project.

I used my Cricut Stamped cartridge to cut the title and I made the cards for the inside using MS Word.  Everyone is already filling up their cards.  This will be great to carry in my purse to refer to when people ask what the girls want for Christmas.  Hope you liked the projects!

Cards, cards, cards

I have been working diligently on my card-making skills.  I never really do any Halloween stuff because most of our holiday isnt really Halloween as much as it is "Fall Festival" type activities.  I loved the look of the cards that Kristina Werner has been doing so I was inspired to do a couple myself.  I have no idea who I will send them to but I had fun making them.  I got the cute ribbon at Wal-Mart for .97 each and the papers were in the $1 bins at Target.  Talk about cheap cards...!!!  The Happy Halloween stamp was also in the $1 bin at Target.

Gettin' Closer!

I am slowly inching my way towards my goal for the album for the craft fair.  I have been working this morning since I dropped the girls off on this one.  I know I lose track of time when I scrapbook, but I don't think it should take 2 hours to make one layout!  Anyways, here it is.

Here are the supplies I used:
Cardstock - Bazzill
Patterened Paper - DCWV
Letters - Chip Chatter by Pressed Petals
Flowers - Prima
Note Paper - Making Memories
Pearls - Recollections

Now it's time to go and do the work I get paid to do:(

A Box!!!

Kids are so funny.  Add a dog and a cardboard box to the mix and you have a perfect photo-op!

"Scrap-lifted"

Hey everyone.  Its still wet and cool here in Arkansas and I am not complaining because this time of year it is usually still pushing 100.  Today I practiced a little "scrap-lifting".  I am pushing to get an album done to enter in the district fair and I only have today, tomorrow and Thursday to get it done.  I will be at a retreat on Friday and Saturday and entries are due Sunday afternoon.  OMG!  Anyways, I have resorted to any and all means necessary for inspiration.  One more page finished towards my goal of 20 for the album.  Here is the inspiration layout from the April 2009 issue of Scrapbooks Etc. and my "scrap-lifted" version.

I changed several things.  First off the pictures, also the title and journaling positions.  The basic layout of the papers and the verticle strips of papers and ribbons is the same.

Over the Weekend

I got a lot accomplished this weekend. I watched several YouTube episodes from kwernerdesign, swissgirl, and apieceofcraftdotcom. Those are my favorites. They are so inspiring and make it look so easy....for those of us who are normal we know it is not. I did a couple of layouts...here is my fav.

The background is Bazzill and the patterned papers are by S.E.I. The title is some ToplineCreations I had in my stash that is NLA.

12x12 Trouble

I decided I need to get back to doing some work in my 12x12's and after working on mini books for so long now I am having 12x12 trouble! I did manage to get 4 pages done but I am not really happy with any of them. Guess I am just going to have to work at it and put down the mini books for a while :( Anyways here is the favorite of the 4 layouts I did.

I love this picture of Brooke. Her hair is all crazy and she is still beautiful. The die cut circle is from The Sweet Life collection by Colorbok. The title is foam Thickers. Sorry about the glare on the photo...for some reason lately I love glossy photos.

Card Sketch Book

First of all I just want to say that I am NOT a very good card maker, but I am practicing. I have been following the Make a Card Monday blog done by Kristina Werner and she is awesome. She recently posted a video on a card sketch book that is soooo cute. I made one for myself and I really like it. Here is how mine turned out and if you want to make one for youself hop on over to her blog and watch the video and download her free .pdf at: http://www.kwernerdesign.com/blog/?p=2135

I used my Cricut and the Stamped cartridge for the letters. The paper is DCWV Nana's Kids.

1st Place!

I finally got around to entering our county craft fair. Every year I say I am going to but never make the deadline. This year I finally got some crafts entered. I got ribbons for all my entries and my "BABY" girl book won 1st place!

Same Effect...Less Expensive

In a world filled with doubts and uncertainties about money, security, stability who can really afford to go out and spend $150 on a computer program...not me. I love the look of the digital brushes you can get for Photoshop and such but, being frugal, I dont want to spend the money to buy the program. I did however find some great border stamps and when you combine them with some staz on ink I think you get about the same effect. Not as much variety, but hey...for $5 with a 40% off coupon from Michaels I can make do. What do you think?

Finally Friday!

TGIF! And thank goodness Monday is a holiday. We dont have any plans but I will be glad to not have to go to work. I have been working diligently on a cardboard album using my Bind-it-All and I must say I am loving the way it is turning out. Using blue and red together is one of my favorite color combinations so that is what I chose for this little album. Against the craft color of the cardboard it really pops.

I freehand drew the heart and cut it from cardboard and then I peeled the top layer off and painted it with red acrylic paint. I love the yellow Prima flowers against the red and white gingham fabric. I also freehanded the little bird on chipboard and painted it with blue acrylic. More to come...

Stamps On Sale!

Great news! Stamps are half off at Hobby Lobby this week. I bought this beautiful script background stamp that I have been wanted. I love it. Love half off!!!!!

Wish Me Luck!

I have been working on a submission for a design team and I finally finished. The album is a chipboard mini tag album that I made for my mom. The pictures are of her and my grandfather when she was a baby. I know it will mean a lot to her to have this and I am glad it turned out so well. The flower on the front is one of the handmade flowers I learned how to do on youtube. I love youtube. I learned how to crochet flowers on there the other day.

Flowers

I watch some tutorials and such on Youtube and I follow the Leah's Scrapbook Room videos. I love the one where Donna Salazar shows how to make flowers and I have been working on some of my own using doilies, some old books and my scallop scissors and punches. I also used some glimmer mists and Stickles on them. They started out pretty odd shaped but they are getting better.

Weekend Work

I had a great weekend. I was very busy but it was good. I went to the SU workshop on Saturday and made a cute sock monkey card. I ordered some goodies I am looking forward to. Saturday evening I went shopping and to Chili's where I had the Molten Lava dessert which is to die for! I worked on a couple ATC's and also did a file folder album. The SU lady had made some and I thought it was adorable so I made one for my upcoming annual ladies retreat our church goes to every year. It turned out good I think. I got the file folder from the $1 section at Target and I used my new Stamped Cricut cartridge for the letters. TTFN!

Latest and Greatest

I watched another of the Thinking Inking videos by Jennifer McGuire. Thanks to Lisa for getting me hooked. I have never really been a stamper but I have all these stamps and supplies that my great aunt gave me. She owns a flower shop and they used to make handmade cards. Needless to say they stopped and she gave me all their supplies. I didn't have a clue what to do with all the sprays, pads, powders, etc. that were in this HUGE rubbermaid tote. That is until Lisa told me about the Thinking Inking videos on http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/ . So now that you know the backstory lets get to the present. I have been watching these videos and tearing up the Tim Holtz isle at Micheals for the past month. I have bought alcohol inks, distress inks, UTEE, crackle paint(LOVE this stuff!)and today I got perfect pearls. They are really fun and easy to work with and you get a beautiful shimmery result. I love shimmer so its right up my alley. I also got my new Bazzill splat mat yesterday and I LOVE IT! Do you know that even Sharpie wont stick to this thing. I tried to write my name on it...just something I do that bothers my DH... anyways, it wipes right off!!!

Well, I'm off to my first SU party tomorrow. I love their stamps. How will I ever decide what to get?

TTFN!

ATC's I Made Today

Here are the ATC's I worked on today. You can see all my ATC's at http://www.flickr.com/photos/scrapbukr4life/

Busy Today

Today was a very productive day in the craft room. I worked on my newest hobby which is ATC's. I love the size and the fact that you trade with people and something you created is out there. I also worked on a swap I signed up for on the scrapbook yahoo group I joined. I used to moderate a group and now I barely have time to read posts. I haven't done a swap in forever so I decided to jump in on one and found myself signing up for 2 scrapbook swaps and an ATC swap. Whew. Figured I better get going so I finished the stuff for one of the scrapbook swaps. I made cute little flower shaker boxes with my Cricut.

About Me

A little about me...well lets see. First I am a married mom of two girls. Next I am a scrapbooker and in my spare time I work full time sorting medical records for a law firm. I love to create things and I am a true do-it-yourself-er. Everything from remodeling my bathroom to landscaping my yard. Just like blogging. I dont exactly know what to do but I am willing to give it a try.
